Memorial University has a fantastic digital archive site. The site is user-friendly and it has some great resources on it. The nice thing about this site is that while the archived material is readily available for use, having it available in a digital form ensures that the resources are preserved.
Another great feature of this initiative is that it is not just articles that are digitized. There are photos, maps, digital files and audio files as well. Also, at different times, a particular collection is showcased which is a good feature as well. This can draw users who may have been looking for information on a different topic to be enticed by the featured topic as well.
The search feature is easy-to-use and the front page has three options for showcasing the collection materials: collection by type, collection by sponsor and collection list. Therefore, based on a user’s preference, they can choose the option that is best suited to their needs.
Overall, this is a wonderful site and a great resource for researchers and interested patrons alike.
